Adopt-A-Nestbox Self-Checkout for the 2026 Season

Each year, the Friends of Hagerman offers a special way to support the Eastern Bluebird population and learn all about these cheerful little birds through the Adopt-A-Nestbox Program.

When you adopt a nestbox, you’ll get to name your box and visit it along one of Hagerman’s hiking trails as often as you like. During nesting season, you’ll receive weekly email updates with a photo from inside your nestbox and a short note about its stage of development. It’s fun, educational, and makes a wonderful Christmas gift!

Each adoption is $50 per nestbox, helping to maintain Hagerman’s impressive Bluebird Trail of 45 boxes across the refuge.

Things to Consider While Adopting Your Nestbox:

"Nestbox Name" refers to the label you would like on your nestbox, for example: Porter's Perch 

Be creative!  Your nestbox may house Eastern Bluebirds, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Carolina Wrens or (rarely) Prothonotary Warblers--so try be more inclusive than "Bluebirds" in the label. If left blank, the label will be the gift recipient's name or the purchaser's name if not a gift.
